I've managed to memorize the full sequence for Lesson 1 with Jesse Tsao's Chen Style Tai Chi Sword. It's still a little rough around the edges and I don't feel like I'm old friends with any of the moves. But I can put myself in the right positions in the right order so that's good. The highlight moves I've somehow strung together include:
- Sword Facing the Sun
- Celestial Points the Way Out (maybe I should show that one to George Bush Jr)
- Green Dragon Rises From the Water
- Guarding the Knee (3X)
- Close the Door
I watched Lesson 2 and was promptly freaked out as Jesse just launches into some pretty wild moves that looked also hard. It was much more active than Yang style and more bold. After I watched it a few times, though, I felt like if I took it bit by bit, I might be able to do it. Or come close. And some moves look familiar like Part the Grass in Search of Snakes, Golden Rooster Stands on One Leg (um or is that Hen since I'm a girl?) and another Green Dragon Rises.
I'll let you know how that first hop and thrust and the squatting Flying Oblique go.
Enjoyed reading your comments about your Tai Chi Sword practice and how others relate to your practice. Best wishes on learning the Chen form.
